Last year I shared some of the resources I was reading for Advent and so many of you joined in and read along side some of those books with me, which I really enjoyed! This year, while I won’t be using as many, I wanted to share what I’ll be reading this year for those of you who might be interested in joining me in the daily advent readings and preparing our hearts for Christmas. As a reminder, Advent starts November 27th for 2022 so grab your reading material before then! If you’re interested in what I read last year, you can read about it in this article.
Emmanuel by Ruth Chou Simons
I purchased two copies of this new Advent book by Ruth Chou Simons so that I can read it along with a dear friend. I love Ruth’s original artwork in her books and I am really looking forward to the beautiful words she shares in the pages of her book about inviting Christ into our lives during Christmas and always.
Good News of Great Joy by John Piper
I will be reading this alongside my husband and some family members. We’ll most likely read it in our own quiet times, but I’m looking forward to the conversations we’ll share from this one. In his book, “John Piper aims to help you keep Christ at the center of the Advent season with 25 short devotional readings.”
Hallelujah by Cindy Rollins
I enjoyed this Advent book while listening to Handel’s Messiah and I am going to read and listen again this year!
I share other book ideas in this Advent book list if you’re still looking for something else to read this season. There are so many wonderful resources available out there, and it’s my prayer that whatever you choose, you keep Christ at the center of it all.
