There are a thousand and one ways homeschool moms plan out their homeschooling days. Some love the full comprehensive planner with all the planning pages they can get their hands on. Others love a more minimalistic planner. While it may appear that Our Cooper Nest (OCN) only offers these two types of planners (in an array of many layout options to choose from), today I want to share with you 3 more ways you could use and create your own OCN homeschool planner to be even more customized to your needs and wants!
Whenever a new customer asks to purchase the weekly layout pages only, I direct them to the Minimalist Homeschool Planners which is a planner of your choice of the weekly layout, and no other planning inserts that you get in a Comprehensive Planner. The Minimalist Planner is an ideal option for any homeschool mom who wants to plan their week of homeschooling in a simple, formatted way without the extra stuff. With a Minimalist Planner, you also get your choice of cover option and 12 monthly calendar pages (great for keeping track of important dates or weeks of homeschooling), but of course, you can just opt to not print those if they aren’t useful for your planning.
If both a comprehensive and minimalist homeschool planner doesn’t work for you, I want to encourage you to keep reading as I’m going to share a handful of ways others have chosen to customize and create their own OCN planner using the planner inserts.
1) The “At A Glance” Homeschool Planner
If you aren’t one who needs to always be in your planner, and just need a little guidance in mapping out lessons, important dates, and a daily rhythm for your day, you might find one or all of the “at a glance” planning inserts to be the right fit for you! To create the “At A Glance” Homeschool Planner you’ll need these inserts:
- Yearly At A Glance Sheets (I update these yearly so keep a look out for them in the shop!)
- Lessons In A Glance
- Day In A Glance
- A Mother’s Glance
2) The Record Keeping Homeschool Planner
Some states require some form of record keeping to homeschool, or a homeschool mom might want to have a planner for these things. Whatever the reason, to create the record-keeping homeschool planner combine these inserts:
3) The Keepsake Homeschool Planner
Sometimes a homeschool planner can serve as a sort of treasured homeschooling keepsake. For some, it isn’t about the lesson plans or the reading lists, and keeping a planner can simply be for a mother to store important habit tracking, or big milestone moments worth remembering. The Keepsake Homeschool Planner includes:
- Mother’s Journal Page (to be used as a diary of sorts for your homeschool days)
- Memories and Milestones
- Habit Trainer Tracker
If you weren’t already aware, *most* of the planner inserts from the Comprehensive Homeschool Planners can be purchased separately. This means that if you wanted a Minimalist Planner, and later discover you also would find a select few of the additional planner inserts useful, you can purchase and add them to your planner later!
With the variety of planner inserts available in the shop, you can create the planner that’s right for you, and for a very affordable price. One of the beauties of our planners and inserts is that they are all undated which means you’ll be able to use them again and again each year without having to repurchase them! There isn’t a one-size-fits-all, or the “best” homeschool planner out there just like there isn’t a one-size-fits-all, or the “best” homeschool curriculum. What works for one family may not work for another, so just as every homeschool and every child is unique, so is each homeschool mom’s planning. I hope that in some small way, my planner resources will bring your homeschool peaceful, intentional, and organized planning.
